Guild Wars: free-to-play massively multiplayer online game

Guild Wars is an online game which people all over the world can play together, at the same time. Once you have bought Guild Wars and installed it, you play without paying a monthly fee.
Guild Wars uses instancing for the game play. This means that you, and the small group that you are playing with, have your own little space in the game. Only the outposts - the towns and the Guild Halls - give you the ability to interact with all the players who are online in that area. While you can chat and dance in outposts, you cannot fight.
If you want to chat privately to another player, you can do that using the Whisper option. The private message will reach the player anywhere in the game, but only while that player is logged on.
Characters reach a maximum level of 20.
The main charm of the game lies in the use of available skills. While characters can - and often do - learn every skill in the game, they may only bring eight of those with them at any time. This set of skills is called a Build.
Players may only change builds in an outpost, and not while instanced in an explorable area or mission. You can develop different builds for different purposes, but you must be sure to load the right build before you start!
Guild Wars offers two types of game experience: Player vs Environment (PvE) and Player vs Player (PvP).
PvE mostly covers playing the game storyline, and involves fighting against game-generated foes.
PvP is a competitive playing mode, where you actually aim to defeat real players in a battle of skills. There are several arenas offering different challenges.
